According to Sky Sports UK and BBC Sport, Kean was dropped as a disciplinary measure because he was late for a team meeting for the second time this season.

This is hardly new behaviour, because Kean was the star player in the Italy U21 squad during the European Championship last summer, but was dropped as punishment – along with roommate Nicolò Zaniolo – for turning up late to team meetings.

Also because of this, he was shuffled back down from the senior Italy squad to the Under-21s during Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Everton paid €30m to sign Kean from Juventus, but he has so far only started two Premier League games and two Carabao Cup fixtures.
