Roma tried to engineer a loan move for the 26-year old in the summer, only for Real Madrid President Florentino Perez to block a deal.

The Giallorossi signed Nikola Kalinic on loan from Atletico Madrid instead.

Since then, Diaz has hardly played for Los Blancos and Perez would be willing to sell for €20m in January.

Roma, however, would like to take him on loan with an option to buy next summer.
