Juventus midfielder Emre Can accused today’s young players of wasting their talent and feels high salaries are to blame.

Young players have regularly come under fire for showing off their extravagant wealth on social media, despite having little to show for it on the field, and Emre Can hit out at their “misplaced attitudes”.

“It’s a shame to see how many of the guys treat their talent, I don’t understand it,” he told Kicker.

Young players have regularly come under fire for showing off their extravagant wealth on social media, despite having little to show for it on the field, and Emre Can hit out at their “misplaced attitudes”.

“It’s a shame to see how many of the guys treat their talent, I don’t understand it,” he told Kicker.

“They’re given the opportunity to have a career alongside great professionals, but they often come with misplaced attitudes. Don’t they understand how wrong they are?”

The German even claims some of his own teammates are guilty of the problem.

“At Juve, I talk to these players. I try to make them understand the importance of certain behaviour. Some of them still don’t understand it.

“The blame lies partly with the high salaries they are on. At their age, they might lose their heads after receiving certain figures.

“Who do you have to convince? Why should you make a sacrifice on the training ground?”

It remains to be seen whether Emre Can will be on his way this winter, amidst rumours of a possible exit.
