Sampdoria midfielder Jakub Jankto says new coach Claudio Ranieri has given the squad “more faith” as he prepares to face former club Udinese.

Samp have moved level on points with city rivals Genoa in 17th place since Ranieri’s appointment, and Jankto is confident they have turned a corner under the ex-Roma boss.

“With Ranieri we have more faith, he is a great person and a very good coach,” the 23-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“You can see the serenity on the pitch, we have strung together three useful results.”

The Blucerchiati are unbeaten in their last three games and the Czech hopes they will continue that trend against his old team on Sunday.

“I know Udinese very well; it won’t be easy. We will have to be careful about how they start from the back.

“I believe we are stronger, but we will only win if we play our own game.”
