Walter Mazzarri admits Torino defensive errors in the 3-0 home defeat to Inter were “unjustifiable,” while providing an injury update on Andrea Belotti.

The Granata had a dismal start to the match, as top scorer Belotti fell awkwardly and was struggling to breathe, so made way for Simone Zaza.

“Andrea has a painful bruise, he’s in hospital for tests, so we’ll see,” the coach told DAZN.

“Andrea has a painful bruise, he’s in hospital for tests, so we’ll see,” the coach told DAZN.

“We started with the right attitude, but when there are defensive errors like that, they are pretty much unjustifiable. The second was entirely avoidable too, so when you concede goals like that against a side with a strong defence like Inter, it all becomes an uphill struggle.

“The third goal was a counter-attack, we were pouring forward and trying everything we could to get back into the game, but the finish slipped between the defender’s legs. That too was avoidable, we should’ve been a bit more careful.

“Incidents like that make the difference, but when you lose 3-0, there’s precious little you can say. I know that anything I say now looks like an excuse, but when you lose your top scorer after 10 minutes… you know it’s not going to be your night.

“While he was coming off and we were preparing the substitution, that’s when Inter scored the opener. Mind you, even down to 10 men, we shouldn’t have allowed that goal to go in.”
