Caicedo delighted with winner

Felipe Caicedo has expressed delight after scoring his first Lazio goal since September to secure a late win against Sassuolo on Sunday.

The Ecuador international ended his drought by grabbing his second goal of the season in the dying minutes of the 2-1 victory at Mapei Stadium.

“We won, that’s all that matters,” he told Lazio Style Channel after the match.

“I’m happy for myself because I had some physical problems this week.

“I’m a striker and when I score the winner, it’s very satisfying for both my team and I.”

The Aquile are now third in Serie A and Caicedo is looking forward to a run of three consecutive home games at the Olimpico.

Their next match is against CFR Cluj in the Europa League, before they welcome Udinese and Juventus in the League.

“This team have character; we must continue like this,” he added.

“Playing at home, in front of our own fans, will be important. We must maintain the right intensity and keep our concentration up.

“We must continue this pattern until the end. There’s a long way to go, we are in the middle of the season and I will definitely score again.”
