Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella made history yesterday as he became the first active, outfied player in Serie A to reach 450 League appearances.
Quagliarella played a key role in Samp’s 2-1 comeback victory over Udinese, winning the decisive penalty that Gaston Ramirez converted.
Although the 36-year-old was taken off with an injury shortly after, he nonetheless upped his tally in Serie A to 450 games.
With that, he became the active, outfield player with the most appearances in Italy’s top flight.
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon currently has the most Serie A appearances out of those still playing.
Despite breaking back into the Italy squad last season with 26 goals, Quagliarella has managed just one so far this term.
