Italy international Federico Chiesa has reportedly rejected the offer of a new contract from Fiorentina.
Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira claims Chiesa has declined the chance of a renewal at the Artemio Franchi, sparking new life into rumours of a move away.
Schira explains how President Rocco Commisso was prepared to offer the 22-year-old a salary worth €4m plus bonuses and tie him down to a new deal until 2024.
Chiesa, who scored his first goal for Italy during the last international break, is currently contracted to Fiorentina until June 2022.
However, the Viola are struggling to compete for a top-six place, despite Commisso’s takeover, and the winger was dropped for being in “not good shape physically or mentally” during the 1-0 defeat to Verona.
