Roma needed a win to stay alive in the Europa League and Dzeko sealed the three points with Roma’s third goal of the night in the first half.

“We responded very well, we expected more problems,” the striker told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a dangerous game, since we would have been out of the tournament if we lost. But we did very well.”

The Bosnian then praised the work of coach Paulo Fonseca and challenged his teammates to show more of the same.

“You can tell how the coach has influenced us. We have a team that always want to play with the ball and we need to continue like this.

“Now, we are playing every three days and all the games are very important.

“We have a good squad and, if someone can’t play, there’s always someone ready to step up.”

Dzeko had been going through a rough patch and his goal against Brescia last weekend was his first since October.

He found the net again on Thursday and said “it’s important to keep calm.”

“When you don’t score, you become nervous. It’s important to keep calm, because the goal will arrive. The most important thing is to win the game.”
