Thiago Motta assures Genoa will have a ”desire to attack and press“ when they host Torino tomorrow.

Genoa remain in relegation trouble, with only two points accumulated from their last four Serie A matches, but Motta is confident their gung-ho approach will pay off in the long run.

“Since I arrived, I’ve liked everything that I’ve seen on the training ground and in matches,” he said at a press conference.

“This mentality Genoa have, this desire to attack and press our opponents, is the right path to take in my opinion.”

This weekend the Rossoblu take on a Torino side desperate to arrest a poor run of form, so the former Italy midfielder is expecting a tough encounter.

“Torino are strong, so we need to be at our best and play a great match.

“The most important it to do everything the right way. It’ll be a very interesting day to confirm how far we’ve come.

“Genoa will play attacking football, that’s for sure. I still have one training session to decide who I’m going to play.”

Former Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro scored on his return from injury against SPAL, and Motta confirmed he could keep his place in the starting XI.

“He [Sturaro] is part of the group. He is a player that might play tomorrow. Everyone is looking well physically. I have all my players available.

“Apart from the match against Napoli, we’ve always scored. Goals are the fruits of your labour.

“When the results don’t arrive, it can create some doubt. But, while I’ve been here, I haven’t felt that sensation.

“I see how happy the guys are when they enter the pitch. I am happy about the performances they have put in so far and this is the right path.”

Lasse Schone has started 11 games since arriving from Ajax over the summer, but the Danish veteran was left out against SPAL..

“He trained well with the others. We have another match where I will pick who fits best for the match tomorrow.

“I have some ideas, but I still have another training session. If I see someone score 10 goals, maybe they’ll play tomorrow.”
