The President reportedly went into the locker room following the game and gave a pep talk, telling the players to give their all in order to get out of the situation.

Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport suggests that former Viola coach Cesare Prandelli may make a return to the club alongside legendary striker Gabriel Batistuta.

Prandelli took charge of Fiorentina between 2005-2010 and twice led them into the Champions League.

The former Azzurri boss has been out of work since he was sacked by Genoa at the end of last season.

Another candidate for the job if Montella were to be sacked is former Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso.
