Franck Ribery has a Grade I-II lesion to the collateral medial ligament in his right ankle, confirmed Fiorentina.
The 36-year-old had to be carried off the field with the help of medical staff during last night’s 1-0 home defeat to Lecce.
He seemed to badly sprain his ankle during a crunching Panagiotis Tachtsidis sliding tackle just before half-time.
Tests have now confirmed Ribery has suffered a Grade I-II lesion to the collateral medial ligament in his right ankle.
The player has already begun treatment and his condition will be re-evaluated over the next few days, added the Viola statement.
It remains to be seen how long Ribery will be out for, but it is a huge blow, especially as Federico Chiesa is also struggling with muscular issues at the moment.
Ribery has played 11 Serie A games for Fiorentina, contributing two goals and two assists.
