Sassuolo teen Stefano Turati was stunned to make his Serie A debut in a 2-2 draw with Juventus, making a great save against Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 18-year-old was thrown into the fray in Turin due to an injury crisis ruling out Gianluca Pegolo and Andrea Consigli.

“I honestly don’t have the words! So many emotions, it all happened so quickly and I never expected this. It was an extraordinary sensation and an incredible day for me,” he told DAZN.

“I honestly don’t have the words! So many emotions, it all happened so quickly and I never expected this. It was an extraordinary sensation and an incredible day for me,” he told DAZN.

Turati was beaten only by a Leonardo Bonucci daisy-cutter and Cristiano Ronaldo penalty, but made several saves, including a fingertip effort on Ronaldo’s free kick.

“The save on Ronaldo was the most important for the game, with that free kick, but the breakthrough for me was the early on to stop their counter-attack.”

Incredibly, Gianluigi Buffon had already made over 100 Serie A appearances by the time Turati was born in September 2001.

“It was an honour to play against Gigi Buffon, as I used to watch him when I was growing up. I am so happy and shocked that I don’t even know what to say. The first thing I have to do now is call my Mum.”
