The coach has been battling leukaemia since July, but was discharged last week following a bone marrow transplant and – although he was not on the bench this evening – he did attend their training sessions.

“The results were poor lately, but we had always played well other than the Sassuolo game and caused the opposition problems,” Dzemaili told Sky Sport Italia.

Fernando Llorente had opened the scoring at the Stadio San Paolo, but Andreas Skov-Olsen and Nicola Sansone turned it around.

“I think, ultimately, you can tell we spent the whole week with our coach. Not everyone can fight back from a goal down to win at the Stadio San Paolo.

“Having the coach with us is a very different experience. We hope to make him happy, because he can get really angry!”
