Radja Nainggolan says Cagliari will “keep dreaming” after they came back from behind to beat Sampdoria in a 4-3 Serie A thriller.

Cagliari were 3-1 down at one stage on Monday evening, but Nainggolan, Joao Pedro and Alberto Cerri all got on the scoresheet to lift the Sardinians into a Champions League place.

“We closed the gap to 2-1, conceded a stupid goal for 3-1, people thought it was over, but we kept believing and showed we could do it,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am particularly glad that Cerri scored the winner, because he has been criticised too much and didn’t deserve that.

“After an 11-match unbeaten run, we dropped points at Lecce when 2-0 up, something that a team with ambition should not be doing.

“We lost to Verona, so going 3-1 down here to Samp would’ve knocked anyone down, but not Cagliari. We believed to the end, had chances in the first half too, but the second half was extraordinary.”

The Rossoblu sit fourth after 14 rounds of fixtures, so does the Inter loanee believe they can stay there?

“It’s not usual for Cagliari to have 28 points after 14 rounds. It doesn’t hurt to dream, but the negative moments will come and any team trying something new will inevitably have miss-steps along the way, but while we can, we’ll keep dreaming.”
