Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga reveals he is Olympique Marseille’s “No 1 fan” and doesn’t regret failing at Chelsea. “Maybe I’ll be back one day...”
Boga joined Sassuolo from Chelsea in the summer of 2018, having been unable to establish himself for the Blues.
He admits it was a “shame” that he didn’t succeed at Stamford Bridge first time around but is open to having a second crack.
“It’s true that it’s a shame. Apart from that, I have no regrets,” he told Foot Mercato, reports Get French Football News.
“Everything comes in its own time. It was certainly not the time for me to play for Chelsea.
“I always keep that in the back of my mind. If I continue to do what I am doing and work hard, maybe I will be back one day.”
He has already played more League games for the Neroverdi than any of his former clubs, among them Stade Rennais, Granada and Birmingham City.
He has scored four goals in 12 Serie A games, including one in the 2-2 draw with Juventus, but confessed Marseille were still his favourite team.
“Marseille remains the club in my heart, ever since I was a little kid.
“Each year, I follow their progress, their matches, everything they’re doing, I will always be Marseille’s No1 fan.
“At the start of the season, I was like the fans. I was a little worried, but I think the team has been put in place and things are going better.
“I think they will have a very good campaign.”
Boga now has to focus on a home game against Perugia in the fourth round of Coppa Italia tomorrow.
