Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso has assured fans that his meeting with Federico Chiesa’s father Enrico went “very positively”.

Speculation over Chiesa’s future has intensified following Fiorentina’s poor run of form in Serie A, but Commisso remains confident about keeping his star man.

It comes after the 69-year-old met Federico’s dad and representative Enrico – who played for the club between 1999 and 2002 – last week.

“There was a meeting with Enrico [Chiesa], it was my first time meeting him, he told Firenze Viola.

“It was very positive. He’s a good man, and I remember him as a player.

“Every father wants to do right by their son, and they’re a great family. Things went better than I expected.“

The Italo-American now hopes to have him back on the pitch next weekend.

“We hope to have Chiesa back next weekend. Yesterday he said he felt good, but we are not sure.”

Chiesa has missed the Viola’s last three games with a muscle problem. He has scored two goals in 12 appearances this season.
