Simone Inzaghi is looking forward to playing Italy’s “best team” with Lazio sitting third in Serie A, as he expects Juventus to be fired up.

Lazio have been impressive lately and this weekend they get to prove themselves against the reigning champions at the Olimpico, with the possibility of climbing into the title race.

“I’m excited to play this game, being in this position in the table,” Inzaghi told the reporters at a press conference.

Lazio have been impressive lately and this weekend they get to prove themselves against the reigning champions at the Olimpico, with the possibility of climbing into the title race.

“I’m excited to play this game, being in this position in the table,” Inzaghi told the reporters at a press conference.

“We will have to play a big game, so we need to be focused and careful.

“They are very strong, they have the champions to decide the game at any instant. Juventus have won the last eight titles, they’re the only team still unbeaten in Europe. They will be angry about the last match against Sassuolo and they would’ve been top in the League without any problems if it weren’t for a great Inter side.”

It’s expected to be a massive match and Inzaghi is looking forward to the atmosphere at the Olimpico on Saturday.

“It’s a pleasure, we will come to a stadium full of enthusiasm. And we will try to bring our people with us. The boys will need to give all the energy they’ve got. We have played many matches against Juventus and we’ve lost twice at home, despite not deserving it."

Inzaghi said they had to take care of the opportunities when they presented themselves on Saturday.

“We will face the best team in Italy. There will be some decisive moments, and we will have to do well to make sure they become our moments.

“We will search for balance; you all remember what you were saying about this team 30 days ago. In football, I’ve seen it so many times before, it could go from the stars to the gutter in no time.”

About being tipped as an outsider for the Scudetto, Inzaghi takes a more relaxed approach.

“It’s from a source of pride, we need to know that in football it’s only a matter of moments. We change opinions and judgments in five games,” he added.

“We have already experienced that. We are happy to be among the top teams, but we know we need to concentrate.

“The team is doing well, I will keep my certainties, but I have some doubts – however, not the ones you were writing about yesterday.

“We have to play a very careful game and make sure we manage the ball well. We will try to control the match. It will surely be more difficult than during the last few games.”

Inzaghi gave praise to Maurizio Sarri and said he is starting to see the team develop their style accordingly.

“I have seen so many games, his work is starting to show,” said the coach. “Now, they are passing a lot more than previously. They have a much tighter team.

“We haven’t played many games against each other, so I have never beaten Sarri, but records are there to be broken. Just like we did at San Siro against Milan. It's been too many years since we won against Juventus at home.”
