Sinisa Mihajlovic’s assistant manager Emilio De Leo admits Milan scoring a goal 40 seconds after the restart “knocked the wind” out of Bologna.

Theo Hernandez had accidentally scored an own goal on the stroke of half-time, making it 2-1, but Giacomo Bonaventura restored the two-goal cushion at the dawn of the second half.

By the time Nicola Sansone converted a penalty for the final 3-2 result, it was too late.

“We paid for some errors that changed the whole game. We’d been able to get back into it and had a good half-time team talk, but then 40 seconds after the restart conceded an avoidable goal. That really knocked the wind out of our sails,” De Leo told Sky Sport Italia.

“After that, we tried to get back into shape, but still allowed too many chances to Milan.”

This was the first time in months that Mihajlovic has been on the touchline and therefore also giving the half-time team talk.

“The coach, as always, tries with his character to shake the team up. He tried to encourage them, point out we were in the game and had to approach it with a positive attitude.”
