Semplici’s future looked uncertain after a poor run of form, amidst speculation SPAL had lined up Gianni De Biasi as his possible successor.

However, the latest is that President Walter Mattioli has decided to put the squad ‘in ritiro’ ahead of the match at the Olimpico this weekend.

The 52-year-old, who took the club to consecutive promotions from Serie C, will get a chance to turn things around at the Paolo Mazza.

The Ferrara side are bottom of Serie A, without a win in eight League matches, but could finally celebrate a victory when they beat Lecce 5-1 in the Coppa Italia last Wednesday.
