Genk President Peter Croonen confirmed they “spoke to Napoli about Sander Berge today, but many top European clubs want him.”

The midfielder is set to play in today’s Champions League game at the Stadio San Paolo, kicking off at 17.55 GMT.

“We spoke to the Napoli directors about Berge today,” Croonen told CalcioNapoli24.

“We discussed various players, they expressed an appreciation for Berge, but we didn’t go beyond that.

“It’s already well known that several European clubs are interested in him. We didn’t talk about the price-tag, it was more in general about the qualities of the player.”

The Genk chief was asked about the possibility of a January exit.

“We want to keep Berge until the end of the season, as he is very, very important for us. At this moment, he is probably our most important player.”
