Lazio need to beat Rennes and hope CFR Cluj lose to group winners Celtic tomorrow to qualify for the last 32, and Inzaghi has confidence in his squad players to get the job done.

“We’ve prepared for the game very well, the lads have looked good,” the coach said at a press conference.

“We want to look good against a strong team who have just started to get going in their domestic League.

“You don’t get handouts in Europe, so we’ll see what happens. I’ll pick my best team for this match.

“I’ve brought along Berisha, who won’t be a starter but could come on. I wanted to do the same with Marusic, but he suffered an ankle problem.

“We’ll assess Adekanye tomorrow. We need a careful game and that’s what the lads want.

“I have faith in those who don’t play much because they’re always ready.

“Luis Alberto had a muscle strain before the Juventus game. He’s trained well in the last couple of days and I think he can play from the beginning.

“We’ve left some important players at home. Lulic is with us, maybe he can play a part of the match.”

With the Aquile flying high in Serie A, would going out help them secure a Champions League place?

“Going out wouldn’t give us an advantage. I don’t like that term. We care about the Europa League.

“We did very well in it two years ago and we went out with lots of injuries last season.

“It was a good tournament in terms of how we played, but we were missing things in our favour.

“The compliments [of our performances] are pleasing. We’re both technical and physical.

“We’re in a good run of form, but now people will be watching us even more. We need to be humble and believe we’re strong.”
