Fiorentina confirm Franck Ribery will undergo surgery to stabilise his ankle and it remains to be seen how long he’ll be out for.
“Franck Ribery had a check-up today to ascertain the cause of the pain he has been feeling when making certain movements. To ensure he can return to action soon, a minor surgical procedure will be completed in the coming hours.”
The veteran contributed two goals and two assists in 11 Serie A appearances this season.
He suffered a badly sprained ankle on December 1 and has already skipped two matches.
Now a statement released by Fiorentina announced he continues to feel pain and was visited by a specialist.
An operation to stabilise the ankle was suggested, which could speed up the recovery time, and he’ll go under the knife today or tomorrow.
Only after the surgery will Fiorentina explain how long Ribery is expected to be out for.
