Roma have reportedly asked SPAL for centre-forward Andrea Petagna on an 18-month paid loan with option to buy, but face competition from Inter.
According to Tele Radio Stereo, the Giallorossi have identified Petagna as an ideal understudy to Edin Dzeko, especially if Nikola Kalinic’s loan from Atletico Madrid is cut short.
In comparison, Petagna is only 24 years old and has one senior Italy international cap.
He has four goals in 15 Serie A games this season, but last term was his most prolific, finding the net 16 times in 36 matches.
Roma are hoping to take Petagna on a paid 18-month loan from SPAL with option to buy in June 2021.
However, they face competition from Inter, who also see Petagna as a suitable alternative to Romelu Lukaku.
