The Ducali snatched victory at the Stadio San Paolo with a goal after four minutes and another deep into stoppages.

“The result was absolutely deserved for what the lads did on the pitch tonight,” D’Aversa told Sky Sport Italia.

“In fact, we have regrets that we had to wait for injury time to score, because we could’ve rounded out the result in the opening 15 minutes. I don’t know where we got the energy from at the end to score that goal.

“It’s certainly not easy for any team to come here and take all three points.”

Parma were level in seventh place with Napoli going into this weekend, but the victory sends them three points clear.

“We’ve got to keep our heads down and keep working, whether the results are positive or negative, always with humility. Everything we achieve is down to the work we do during the week.”

D’Aversa was asked why his men are underappreciated in the Italian media.

“That is not a question for me. At times it is disappointing not to see these lads given the gratification they deserve. The only team in Serie A surpassing expectations more than Parma is Cagliari.

“There are situations that would’ve been more difficult to deal with last season, but this time we really held together.”
