Ivan Juric believes Hellas Verona were complacent in the first half against Torino, but their comeback from 3-0 down to 3-3 was "heroic."

The Gialloblu found themselves 3-0 down to Torino with only half an hour remaining, but turned the game around with three goals inside 15 minutes.

“There was a lot of talk during the week, too many compliments, and we lacked a bit of concentration," said the coach in his press conference.

The Gialloblu found themselves 3-0 down to Torino with only half an hour remaining, but turned the game around with three goals inside 15 minutes.

“There was a lot of talk during the week, too many compliments, and we lacked a bit of concentration," said the coach in his press conference.

“I wasn’t angry about how the game started. We suffered against Torino, but in the second half I saw another team, then they were heroic to recover from 3-0, and without giving up.

“When we lower our intensity levels, it becomes difficult for us. It was a fantastic game, however. The lads coming off the bench gave us an important impetus.

“It was the first time this season that I haven’t seen Verona. Sometimes we have lost, accepted mistakes, but I didn’t see what we worked on during the week.

“We couldn’t allow it to continue, and in the second half we were better.”

Asked what went wrong in the first half, Juric believes the Granata showed more hunger.

“The game was very simple, we played poorly. They won all the duels, they had greater quality in front of goal. We were inferior to all of their players, save a few.

“I had a feeling going into the game that the lads weren’t focused, and what I feared took place in the first half. In the second half, we were concentrated.”

Juric made three changes, with Giampaolo Pazzini, Mariusz Stepinski and Valerio Verre all coming on, and remarkably, all three scoring for the Gialloblu.

“I was disappointed at half time. Samuel Di Carmine had broken a finger. I know you are not there when you have such a thing on your mind. Mattia Zaccagni came from two excellent games previously, but he didn’t seem well this week in training.

"Giampaolo Pazzini has problems training consistently, but he has the spirit out of the ordinary for a 36-year-old. He’s a great example of professionalism.”
