Valencia coach Albert Celades knows Atalanta will be difficult opponents when they meet in the Champions League in February. “They are a very physical team.”
La Dea are in the Round of 16 in their debut season, and were drawn against the Spanish side.
Celades was talking to the official UEFA website and believes his side won’t have it easy against the Bergamo outfit.
“We will have to learn more about them, but they are a very physical squad, with great offensive potential.
“They play with three central defenders and have attacker of a good level like Luis Muriel and Papu Gomez. We will see how we arrive at those games.”
Atalanta advanced into the last 16 with only seven points in an extremely tight group, but Celades says they deserved it.
“They gave a lot of effort in the last three games [of the group stage]. They got into the last 16 with a great victory at Shakhtar Donetsk. Atalanta have had the same coach for a long time, with the same tactics. They are having a great year.
“We will need to learn as much information as possible about them.”
Atalanta play Valencia at San Siro on February 19, with the return in Spain on March 10.
