The so called ‘player mutiny’ has hung over the club for the last several months, and with the sacking of coach Carlo Ancelotti last week, it seemed the affair had been put to bed.

However DeLaurentiis, who was present at the club’s Christmas party in Villa d’Angelo last night, confirmed that he was still intending to press ahead with docking his players’ wages.

“At Christmas you can always give more. Sometimes we can delude ourselves that certain errors are forgiven right next to the festive season."

DeLaurentiis brought in former Milan coach Rino Gattuso to replace Ancelotti last week, but the President maintains he still has close relationship with the latter.

“I still love Ancelotti, but we needed a change. I met Gattuso last summer at Ancelotti’s birthday party,” La Gazzetta dello Sport report the President of saying at the party.

“I was immediately struck by his generous humanity. I had no doubt in entrusting him with the technical project.

“The bad weather has passed, the sun rises on the horizon on your and our lives.”
