President Walter Mattioli has confirmed that SPAL “trust” Leonardo Semplici and called on his players to commit to the cause.

SPAL are currently bottom of Serie A, with last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Roma extending their winless run in the League to over two months.

However, the patron believes Semplici is the man to guide them up the table, while demanding “strength” from his squad.

“After the defeat to Brescia, we were very disappointed,” Mattioli told ItaSportPress.

However, the patron believes Semplici is the man to guide them up the table, while demanding “strength” from his squad.

“After the defeat to Brescia, we were very disappointed,” Mattioli told ItaSportPress.

“We analysed the situation 360° and decided it would be right to continue with the coach.

“There’s a great admiration for Semplici, he has done a lot for us. We all trust him and his staff, but from today, we want to see players who put in the strength that should be our main weapon to fight for our salvation.”

The supremo then reiterated his warning to those who were not willing to roll their sleeves up.

“I’m sure that we will celebrate our salvation at the end of the season. There’s some stuff we need to fix, and we will fix them, also in the January window.

“Those who don’t believe in us should come forward. We don’t want to hold back those who won’t commit to our project.”
