Callejon is out of contract next June, and it was believed that the Spaniard would leave the San Paolo after seven years, as he’d been constantly linked with a move to China.

However in recent weeks there’s been speculation that a renewal could happen after all.

Il Corriere dello Sport report that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has offered Callejon a two-year extension to stay, but without a pay rise.

The winger would still earn the same €3.5m a season wages as before, a deal Callejon is reportedly not happy with. It’s thought that the former Real Madrid player wants €4m a season.

The Roman paper speculates that if a deal cannot be rubberstamped, Callejon could move to Milan or take up an offer to play in the Chinese Super League.

Dries Mertens is also believed to have rejected the Partenopei’s latest contract extension.

Callejon has made 324 appearances and scored 79 goals in all competitions since joining in the summer of 2013.
