“Losing like this always hurts, we would like to be competitive immediately, we know we can’t be. It takes a little time, but we want to do it in as little as time as possible.
“Berlusconi’s Milan cannot be recreated in six months or a year. This game is a bad blow for us, you have to wake up and react. It won’t be a nice Christmas,” Boban told DAZN following the game.
Milan last lost a match 5-0 in May 1998 to Roma, a team that Boban was part of.
“I was also there in 1998, but these things happen, it’s sport. However we must not throw everything we have done in the last two months away.
“The performance wasn’t there, and it hurts a lot. It was embarrassing, this cannot be the real Milan. We have to think and think well.”
Boban then spoke to Sky Sport Italia, and said the club will look to strengthen in the January transfer window.
“We are talking about defence and attack, but lets see what can be done based on our possibilities and the opportunities that arise. The winter market is not like the summer. Something will happen and we will try to strengthen.”
Despite the defeat, Boban says they have faith in Stefano Pioli.
“We are super happy with Pioli and how he is working, there are no doubts about him.”
