Negotiations had broken down last week, but seem to have resumed with a significant breakthrough.

According to both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera newspapers, it will be a six-month contract with option to extend automatically for one more season.

Unlike the initial plan to tie the extension to Champions League or even Europa League qualification, the new proposal would have Zlatan get the full 18 months based on his performances and goal statistics.

Milan hope he’ll make a decision over the next few days and he could be at the Milanello training ground from December 30.

Napoli do not seem particularly interested now, but Everton are an option with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm.
