Lazio have released a statement condemning racist abuse aimed at Mario Balotelli during the Brescia game, pledging legal action against fans responsible.

The 2-1 victory at the Stadio Rigamonti was halted for a couple of minutes when offensive chants were aimed at Balotelli, including some of a racist nature.

The striker sent out a message on Instagram this afternoon about the incident.

“Lazio fans that were there today at the stadium SHAME ON YOU! #saynotoracism ”

Now the club has also released a statement on what is sadly only the latest in a long line of racist incidents involving their fans.

“As it has always done in the past, SS Lazio condemns the discriminatory behaviour from a tiny minority of fans during the match with Brescia.

“The club reiterates once again its condemnation of similar unjustified behaviour and confirms its intention to pursue legal action against those who are in effect betraying their sporting passion by seriously damaging the image of the club and the Biancocelesti team.”
