Luca Gotti has admitted Udinese have to “change our record away from home” ahead of their match against Lecce on Monday.
Udinese have only secured one win on the road this season and have picked up four points from eight away games.
Now, Gotti would like to take advantage of Lecce’s winless run at the Via del Mare on Monday night.
“We are searching for continuity in our results,” Gotti said at a press conference. “We would like to change our record away from home, because the numbers tell us that we need to reflect on this aspect.”
“We will face a team who are coming from two years of winning and they play proactive, courageous football,” he added. “They have collected 15 points so far, most of them are away from home. They also come from two consecutive defeats and we know what attitude we will get from Lecce.”
“I expect an aggressive and purposeful opponent,” he said. “In respect of the things I already said, and the fact that they haven’t collected too much from their home games so far, I know they will try to attack and play an open game.
“We must show our improvement and that we are more and more becoming a team in both phases of the game.”
The coach admitted his options in attack gives him some headache and said there are a lot of players who “probably deserves to play” against the Giallorossi.
“January is problematic, because of the transfer market,” he said. “Many players are doing everything they can to play.
“Maybe they deserve it too and they could consider a transfer to find regular first-team football. The choice to keep someone out of the side, is the most difficult thing in this team.
“In attack, [Lukasz] Teodorczyk is the one who has played the least and [Ignacio] Pussetto has only just returned. He entered against Juventus and scored, entered against Cagliari and was decisive, probably deserves to play.
“I let [Ilija] Nestorovski play and he even scored. Finally, the two I have used the most so far, [Stefano] Okaka and [Kevin] Lasagna, are satisfying me. This is the most difficult aspect.
“I need to study the opponent and make the correct choices based on the players I have. I am clearly put in a difficult position by all these players who are pushing hard to play.”
