Luca Gotti praised decisive Rodrigo de Paul after Udinese’s 1-0 win against Lecce but couldn’t say if the match winner will stay in Udine.

The Argentine scored the only goal of the match, as Udinese came out on top in the windy conditions at Via del Mare.

Gotti revealed the game was affected by the weather and was happy to see his side respond after a “messy” first half.

“It was a game that was highly affected by the strong wind,” Gotti said at a press conference after the match. “During the first half it was messy, we gave Lecce a couple of chances.

“It became better in the second half, they disallowed two goals in a short space of time and then De Paul made a great move…

Gotti said he is confident the matchwinner will stay in Udine but confirmed it’s not his decision to make.

“I have no signs of anything else,” he said. “But I [personally] can’t keep him in Udine.”

During the match, he decided to change the formation to grab a winner and it succeeded.

“The team has found a greater awareness during the recent weeks, they haven’t been scared,” Gotti added. “In the end we played a 4-3-3 that turned into a 4-1-4-1 to try and win the match.”
