Sinisa Mihajlovic’s assistant De Leo was satisfied by his team’s response after Marco Benassi’s opening goal for the visitors.

“Losing today would have been tough to swallow,” De Leo told the club’s official website. “The lads wanted it until the end, and they got what they deserved. They believed in the last kick of the game and we are happy.

De Leo said the team is “growing in confidence” and will be looking to build on the performance against Torino on Sunday.

“We are growing, both technically and in confidence. We want to do better every Sunday,” he added. “We will take with us today’s match and learn from it ahead of a difficult trip to Turin.

“For example, the 13 corners we won could’ve been exploited in a better way,” he said. “It must be said that it was the last stop that decided the game, so it’s OK.”
