Manchester United chief Ed Woodward is reportedly blocking Ashley Young’s passage to Inter, but the move could still go through this summer.

Young emerged as a shock target for Inter, and it was reported that a transfer could’ve been completed within 24 hours.

The defender will be a free agent at the end of the season, and is now free to talk to any club.

However, according to The Daily Express and Football Insider, United chief Woodward is attempting to block Young’s move to San Siro.

Woodward apparently values Young behind the scenes at Old Trafford, and he has been named captain on numerous occasions by United boss Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer.

It’s thought that despite the United supremo’s best attempts to block a move, Young will sign a pre-agreement deal to join the Nerazzurri in the summer.

The BBC meanwhile report that Young is currently undecided about a move, but that everything will become clearer within the next 24 hours.

The 34-year-old’s versatility is thought to be one of the reasons Inter are looking to sign the player.

Young can play either as right-back or in right-midfield.

He joined United in 2011 from Aston Villa.
