Torino boss Walter Mazzarri says he doesn't know what to expect against Davide Nicola's Genoa ahead of their Coppa Italia clash. "We can only look to their game against Sassuolo."

Nicola has only been in charge for one game, winning 2-1 against Sassuolo, and Mazzarri says they will be a different side.

“The only reference we have is the game against Sassuolo. His arrival has had an effect on the team, and they will be in high spirits,” said Mazzarri in his press conference.

“It will be a complicated game, but if we are focused on us, we can put anyone in difficulty. I expect a similar game like the one against Roma. It’s vital that we advance to the next round.”

Torino have been inconsistent this season, often within the same game, and Mazzarri wants to see his side gain greater control of matches.

“We need consistency, we must always think about the next game and face them all at the top from every point of view.

“We cannot afford to have drops in intensity. Against Roma we have shown that if we play as we know how, with the ball on the ground, we can play against anyone.”

Defender Nicolas N’Koulou put in an impressive display against the Giallorossi last weekend, and Mazzarri says the defender is crucial for the Granata.

“I made it clear to the players that they are all important, but there are three essential players in the backbone of this side: Andrea Belotti, Salvatore Sirigu and N’Koulou.

“Then maybe we could put Tomas Rincon in amongst them. They transmit trust to the other players, and N’Koulou is one of these players.”

Winger Iago Falque has been out of action since late October with a hamstring injury, and Mazzarri says he may give the winger some minutes against the Rossoblu.

“Falque is doing very well. He played in a little game in training and I will decide whether to put him on the bench. If he plays, it will only be a handful of minutes.”
