West Ham United’s offer for Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has been rejected by Inter, claim Italian reports, as they wanted him on loan with option to buy.

The Brazilian was purchased from Santos in 2016 for €29.5m and struggled both at San Siro and on loan at Benfica.

He returned to Brazil on loan and truly hit form for Flamengo, taking them to the league title and the Copa Libertadores with 34 goals in 43 games.

Although Flamengo are eager to keep hold of him permanently, they have not been able to agree terms with Inter.

Now FCInterNews insist the opening proposal from West Ham has also been snubbed, as it was a paid 18-month loan with option to buy for another €20m.

This is considered ‘unsatisfactory’ to the Nerazzurri, who intend to cash in on Gabigol so they can reinvest in a midfielder.
