Bryan Cristante has said he’s happy that Roma are “fighting on all fronts” and is aiming to play in the Coppa Italia Final this season.
Now he is aiming to get a good run in the two cup competitions the Giallorossi prepare for during the second half of the campaign.
“We are still fighting on all fronts,” he told the club's official website. “Our goal this year is to reach the top four in the League, possibly reach the Coppa Italia Final and to have a good run in the Europa League.
“We have a competitive team, with a lot of great players. We have a great coach and a great second half of the season awaits us.”
Cristante has been injured since late October and is still recovering from a tear in the adductor muscle. He said it gives him a different perspective on the matches.
“When you are away from the pitch, you look at the matches in a different perspective,” he said. “I have to say, we’ve made a big leap from all points of view. Both defensively and in attack.
“We have to continue like this, follow the coach and improve with every game.”
The former Atalanta player said coach Paulo Fonseca “immediately” made himself known to the players and said the “team are growing” under his leadership.
“We saw immediately that the manager had new ideas and a great desire,” he said. “He has an innovative and modern style of football. He is transferring it is to us and does it in the best possible way.
“We are growing as a team and as individuals. Now we must continue working like that. He also knows how to manage us at any time, to get the best performance from us.”
Roma lost their return to action against Torino and the 24-year-old claimed is was “one of those nights”.
“In football, bad stuff happens,” he said. “And the other day, it was one of those nights.
“We played well, created a lot, but it happens. The small moments in football makes the difference. When you experience certain types of situations, it could become difficult to turn the game around. The most important thing was that we entered the pitch with the right mentality.”
