Rolando Maran felt Cagliari played better than Milan in the first half, but was yet again left to rue “conceding a goal too cheaply.”

Yet again, the Sardinians had done well in the first half only to concede straight after the break, losing 2-0 to Rafael Leao and Zlatan Ibrahimovic goals.

“We had played with the right intensity, albeit suffering a little with their physicality, and had a big chance with that save on Nahitan Nandez,” Maran told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’d say we had the better of the first half, but then we conceded a goal too cheaply within 30 seconds of the restart. After that incident, we were unable to get back into that rhythm.”

This was Cagliari’s fourth consecutive Serie A defeat, ever since the last-gasp 2-1 loss to Lazio.

“It’s a difficult time for us, things are going negatively and that influences our confidence. We must be more solid in defence and not keep conceding so many goals, because it becomes difficult to get back on track after that.”
