Gennaro Gattuso joked Napoli need a pilgrimage to a religious site after “conceding some absurd goals” recently.

The Partenopei have lost three of their four games since Gattuso took over from Carlo Ancelotti last month, falling 2-1 to Parma, 3-1 against Inter and 1-0 away to Lazio.

“It’s my fault, but better times will come. We just have to grit our teeth and keep working,” Gattuso told Striscia La Notizia.

“It’s my fault, but better times will come. We just have to grit our teeth and keep working,” Gattuso told Striscia La Notizia.

He received the Tapiro d’Oro (Golden Tapir) award from the satirical television show, a traditional gift for those who are in the headlines for reasons they probably won’t be happy with.

Gattuso was asked if perhaps Napoli needed to appeal to his namesake San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples?

“I think we all need to go to on some kind of pilgrimage to San Gennaro, because we’re conceding some absurd goals.”

They will face Serse Cosmi's Serie B outfit Perugia in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 tomorrow.
