Rolando Maran has confessed that Cagliari “need to erase everything and start again” after suffering their fifth consecutive defeat against Inter on Tuesday.
After an astonishing start to the season, the last month has been cruel to Maran’s side and he is the first to admit that they are going through a rough time.
“We are having a very special moment,” Maran told Sky Sport Italia. “We need a sponge to erase everything and start again.
“I am sure I will find a team that are eager to put this period behind them. We have to leave this moment behind.”
He wants to see a reaction from his players and claimed they will be working on eliminating the individual errors that have proved costly over their last five matches.
“We must put ourselves in a position to toughen up in front of our opponents. We aren’t able to close the games. We stay in the game until the first mistake that we grant them with.
“Unfortunately, after 15 seconds, we gave them this opportunity and it affected the first half.”
He was more content with what he was presented after the break at the Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday and claimed the Rossoblu will be “desperate to react”.
“In the second half, it went better,” he added. “We have to work and start from the proactive attitude from the second half.
“We have to improve in some respects. It’s a moment we need to fight with great character and a tough attitude. I am convinced that tomorrow, I will have a team who are desperate to react.”
