Brescia have officially signed Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason on an 18-month contract as a free agent.
The 31-year-old is no stranger to Serie A, having played for Pescara and Sampdoria from 2012-15.
He went on to FC Basel and Aston Villa, joining Al Arabi in October 2019 on a short contract.
Bjarnason is most famous for his exploits with the Iceland national team at Euro 2016, reaching the quarter-finals.
This is an 18-month contract with Brescia that will expire on June 30, 2012 and he already took part in this morning’s training session.
It was reported that Bjarnason was ready to be announced yesterday, but President Massimo Cellino ordered a delay because it was Friday the 17th – the Italian version of ‘bad luck’ Friday the 13th.
