Leonardo Spinazzola confessed “it has been quite an intense week” after he went from failed Inter transfer to starring in Roma’s win at Genoa. “It’s madness to think I’m broken.”
The left-back was part of an exchange deal with Matteo Politano, only for Inter to pull the plug after demanding extra fitness as well as medical tests.
So he flew back to Rome and was in the starting XI at Marassi this evening for a 3-1 victory.
“It has been quite an intense week…” smiled Spinazzola on Sky Sport Italia.
“I wanted to put in a good performance and to win, I achieved both. Now we focus on Juve in the Coppa Italia midweek.
“Every player wants to give his best, to win, to be at 100 per cent and help his team. Today, I feel satisfied with what I did.”
Inevitably, Spinazzola was asked about the reasons for Inter pulling out, as evidently he was not injured.
“I feel great, honestly. It’s madness to think I’m an international who has been through so many clubs and all of a sudden I’m a broken player.
“I trained by myself in the gym in Milan too. I am focused only on Roma now and the director has already spoken, so I don’t want to say anything else.
“We have everything in life, as professional football players, so we can’t complain.”
