Fan run over and killed by rival ultras

Police have arrested 25 people after a football supporter was run over and killed by a car driven by rival ultras in the Italian amateur leagues.

The incident occurred near Potenza, the region of Basilicata, on Sunday evening.

What we know so far is that 39-year-old Vultur Rionero fan Fabio Tucciariello was killed when run down by a car driven by supporters of rival team Melfi.

There are another three injured, one in serious condition.

Police arrested the 30-year-old who was driving, but also another 24 people, who Sky Sport Italia report are Vultur fans.

The two clubs were not scheduled to meet, so the incident seems to have occurred when they accidentally met at a motorway service station on their way to their respective games.
