Lazio hitman Ciro Immobile has 23 goals in just 19 Serie A games, putting him out in front for the Golden Shoe 2019-20.
The award takes into account the difficulty of each European league, calculating a points system based on UEFA coefficients.
Immobile is currently out on top with 46 points (23 goals x difficulty coefficient 2), followed by Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner on 40 (20 goals x 2).
Jamie Vardy is further behind on 34 points (17 goals x 2 for Leicester City), with Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus climbing fast on 32 points (16 x 2).
Erling Braut Haaland’s calculation is a little more complicated, as the 16 goals he scored in the Austrian League for RB Salzburg had a coefficient of 1, whereas the hat-trick on his debut for Borussia Dortmund were worth 2, so he is now on 30 points.
The last Italian and Serie A player to win the Golden Shoe was Francesco Totti for Roma in 2006-07 with 52 points (26 goals), while Luca Toni had 62 points (31 goals) for Fiorentina in 2005-06.
