Manchester United are unable to recall Inter loanee Alexis Sanchez amidst an injury crisis in attack.

The Red Devils are in a state of panic as it appears chief striker Marcus Rashford faces a long spell out on the sidelines with a double stress fracture to his back.

The English side sold Romelu Lukaku to the Nerazzurri last summer and also let Sanchez leave on a season-long loan to Inter, without replacing either striker.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer then contemplated bringing Sanchez back to Old Trafford following confirmation of Rashford's injury.

The Chilean has just returned to action for Inter following his own injury layoff.

However the Evening Standard reports that the Premier League side cannot bring the 31-year-old back to England due to a lack of a recall clause inserted into the deal.

Therefore, Sanchez will stay at San Siro until the end of the season.
