Eriksen-Giroud in, Godin-Asamoah out?

Inter have their deal for Christian Eriksen, so now it’s time for Olivier Giroud from Chelsea, while Kwadwo Asamoah and Diego Godin could leave.

It is a frenetic day for those reporters watching the Inter headquarters in Milan, as agents and intermediaries are constantly flowing through the doors.

Multiple Italian sources are confident not only have Tottenham Hotspur agreed to sell Eriksen for €18m plus €2m bonuses, but that the paperwork has already been drawn up.

They are only waiting for Spurs to find a suitable replacement before completing the transfer, but the Denmark international is expected to have his medical on Monday.

Matteo Politano has also agreed a move to Napoli, on loan with obligation to buy for a total €25m, but Fernando Llorente will not be released by the Partenopei.

This means Inter are back on to their original choice, Giroud, who is available from Chelsea for €5m plus €1.5m in add-ons.

Aston Villa and even Barcelona are now showing interest in Giroud, but they’d only take him on loan.

The Nerazzurri had been hoping to save money by getting Llorente from Napoli, so it’s likely someone will need to be sold in order to raise those funds.

A clue arrived this evening when the agents of both Kwadwo Asamoah and Diego Godin arrived at the club headquarters for meetings.

Godin was a huge coup when snapped up as a free agent from Atletico Madrid over the summer, but has fallen down the pecking order in Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 formation.

The Uruguay international turns 34 next month and could ask to leave Serie A already after just six months.

Asamoah has struggled with injury problems, but he too is far from a first choice, especially after Victor Moses and Ashley Young arrived.
