Corini: 'Frustrating Brescia defeat'

Eugenio Corini and Brescia found their 1-0 defeat to Milan “frustrating” and felt Sandro Tonali showed his desire to keep growing.

The Rondinelle arguably had the better of the match for long periods, but Gianluigi Donnarumma made several big saves and Ante Rebic came off the bench to score the winner.

It means Brescia could end up bottom of the Serie A table by the end of this weekend.

“It’s frustrating to put in such strong performances and not pick up points,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must take courage from this suffering to face the next 17 games and take what today we missed out on, but not falling into a victim mentality. We are still in control of our destiny.

“There is great regret at this result, but we need the same courage against Bologna in the next match.”

Tonali was particularly impressive in midfield this evening, so it’s no wonder a bidding war is breaking out over the 19-year-old.

“He is an extraordinary talent who works really hard every day in training and can improve further thanks to his desire to go beyond those limits,” assured Corini.

“We already knew he was a fine midfielder and he can do great things to help Brescia towards safety. It was wonderful to see the Stadio Rigamonti packed today.”

Mario Balotelli was suspended and will also miss the Bologna game after his red card for insulting the referee.

“I expect more consistency from him and more goals. He is a player of a different level to the others and he has to prove that.”
